Noting their shared heroism and universal appeal, British clergy think the Church of England should call on The Doctor to help Jesus -- or at least Jesus's church.
Between 2000 and 2006, the number of teenagers attending church declined by a reported 20 percent. So, a confab of church leaders proposed that young people might better consider themes like good, evil, redepmtion and resurrection set against the backdrop of a police box.
When you think about it, Doctor Who and Jesus have a few things in common. They're both inspiring and heroic. They both fight evil, though Jesus had more on his plate than just the Daleks. They both sacrifice themselves for the greater good. One is immortal, and the other is pretty close. They both travel with companions. They both appear in Christmas specials. And, they both have Sonic Screwdrivers.
